Meet the Organization Behind The Capital Fair
The Capital Fair, Ottawa’s largest regional fair, is proudly presented by the Gloucester Agricultural Society (GAS), a not-for-profit organization governed by volunteers.
Incorporated under the Ontario Agricultural Societies Act, GAS is led by a Board of Directors elected by members every two years at the Annual General Meeting. This ensures fresh ideas and continuity in planning The Fair’s direction and programming.
The Society exists to enhance agricultural awareness, community connection, and the quality of life in our region. Through The Capital Fair, we:
- Promote agriculture, domestic industry, and improved standards of living
- Host inclusive agricultural exhibits and award excellence
- Unite groups and individuals through fun and educational programming
- Foster inter-community collaboration and financial opportunity
- Celebrate heritage and culture through entertainment and exhibits
- Encourage idea exchange among local and regional merchants
- Deliver recreational, cultural, and educational enjoyment to Ottawa families
